Your senior portraits are one of the most meaningful milestones of your high school
journey — and a little preparation goes a long way toward making sure your
session feels effortless, fun, and completely you. Here’s everything you
need to know before your session with Jen Welker Photography.
Start with Your Outfits
Clothing is one of the biggest
factors in how your portraits turn out, so give yourself plenty of time to
plan.
·
Choose 2–3 outfits that reflect your
personality — think about what makes you feel most confident.
·
Avoid busy patterns and large logos,
which can distract from your face.
·
Opt for solid colors or subtle textures —
they photograph beautifully and stand the test of time.
·
Bring options. It’s always better to have
more than you need.
·
Don’t forget accessories — jewelry, hats,
and layering pieces add dimension to your images.
Skincare & Beauty Prep
You don’t need to look different —
you just want to look like the best version of yourself.
·
Stay hydrated in the days leading up to
your session.
·
Get a good night’s sleep the night before
— it shows in photos.
·
Keep makeup natural and wearable — heavy
or trendy makeup can date your images quickly. We’re going for timeless.
·
If you’re getting your hair done,
schedule it the morning of your session so it looks fresh.
·
Avoid trying anything new with your skin
or hair right before your session.
On the Day of Your Session
·
Arrive a few minutes early so you have
time to settle in and feel relaxed.
·
Bring all your outfits neatly packed to
avoid wrinkles.
·
Eat beforehand — you’ll feel more
energized and at ease.
·
Leave your nerves at the door. Every
session is fully guided, so you’ll never have to wonder what to do with your
hands or where to look. I’ve got you.
A Note for Parents
Senior portraits are just as much for
you as they are for your senior. This is a chapter you’ll want to remember
forever. My sessions are designed to be seamless and stress-free for the whole
family — from the moment you book to the moment you receive your final images.
